NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a national level medical entrance exam regulated by the NTA (National Testing Agency). Formerly, NEET was known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT). It is held for providing admissions in MBBS/BDS courses offered by all government and private medical colleges in India. It is a one tier exam which commences once in a year in month of May.

After the NMC Act 2019 was enacted in September 2019, NEET-UG became common entrance test all over India for admissions to medical colleges in India, including the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) which conducted separate entrance exams earlier.

NEET exam has replaced AIPMT exam from the 2016 onwards. All seats (MBBS/BDS) of any medical/dental college will be filled by the score of NEET examination only. Any candidate aiming to pursue a medical course needs to have Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology as their compulsory subjects in standard 10th and 12th and should have passed in these subjects.

After the NEET results are announced, NTA declares the counselling procedure. The candidate have to present their passing certificate at the time of the counselling round. Marks in Mathematics are not considered in NEET-Undergraduate exam (NEET-UG).
